Background |
|
| |
SMWF was founded by president, Tashawnya Menefee after working
for the Center of Disease Control in Atlanta, GA.
Menefee was emotionally torn and devastated over the
alarmingly high statistics of children as orphans and grieving
mothers and fathers restless yearly with rising deaths and
infection rates among African Americans in mostly urban areas.
The Board of Directors support the mission of SMWF and
wanted to support the beckoning call for education and emotional
support for youth living with this crippling disease and believe
that a local urgency in Atlanta, (Fulton County), Gwinnett
(Gwinnett County), and Decatur, (Dekalb County) GA must exist.
We will also focus attention on Public Middle schools,
and High Schools, Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA and various
Foster Care Facilities of orphans of parents that died of AIDS.
